Andrea Hamilton

Andrea is a Resident in Counseling and Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor who delights in creating a safe place for people to process pain and overcome life challenges. She has a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a National Certified Counselor. She considers it an honor to walk alongside her clients and help them reach their goals.

Andrea works with teenagers and adults and has a special interest in helping people through PTSD, traumatic grief and loss, and childhood trauma. She also works with military and law enforcement and their families and offers counseling for  depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship conflict, and multicultural issues.

Andrea offers a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach to counseling. She has completed Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Foundational Training through the Linehan Institute and sits on a DBT consultation board. She offers a combination of DBT, CBT, and solution-focused strategies that are grounded in a biblically-based framework. Her counseling experience has shown her that our deepest needs can only be met as we look to Christ, and she points people to their faith as an avenue of hope and healing.

Prior to working as a counselor, Andrea worked with an education program implementing a social-emotional learning curriculum to equip refugee children from the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe to transition into life in Germany. She has also served as a youth leader and women’s bible study leader and currently serves at her local church. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys being outside, walking, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.

Andrea is available for virtual counseling appointments and serves people who live in Maryland and Virginia. Request an appointment with Andrea below, or contact her at andrea@christiantraumacounseling.com.
